The causal relationship between population growth and economic growth in Sudan during period 1995-2022

Abstract

The study aims to highlight the relationship between population growth and economic growth, enabling an understanding of the impact and direction of this relationship, as well as the effect of population growth on economic growth in the Sudanese economy during the period 1995-2022, the study hypothesized the existence of a short - term and long- term positive causal relationship between population growth and economic growth. It also assumed a statistically significant negative relationship between population growth and economic growth in Sudan; the study employed a descriptive – analytical approach as it is the most commonly used in theoretical studies. a quantitative approach was used to construct the relationship between population growth and economic growth and to test this relationship using granger’s causality test. among the most important findings of the study are the existence of a short - term and long- term causal relationship the negative impact of population growth and economic growth and the statistically significant negative relationship   between population growth and economic growth. the study’s acceptance of the alternative hypothesis stating that there is a statistically significant relationship between population growth and economic growth.
