Abstract

This study examines the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI) on economic growth in Sudan during the period (2002 - 2022). It aims to identify the relationship between FDI and economic growth and to highlight the extent of FDI's influence on economic growth in Sudan during this period. The study hypothesizes a relationship between FDI and Sudan's GDP during the study period, and also a statistically significant positive correlation between FDI and economic growth in Sudan during this period. The study employs a descriptive-analytical approach and a quantitative methodology to establish the relationship between FDI and economic growth. Data were collected from secondary sources, including books, references, and the annual reports of the Central Bank of Sudan and the Central Bureau of Statistics.  The study reached several conclusions, most notably: a direct relationship exists between foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic growth. This was confirmed by the positive FDI coefficient and its probability value being less than 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis was accepted, stating that there is a statistically significant direct relationship between FDI and economic growth. In other words, the more foreign investment a country attracts, the higher its economic growth will be during the study period.
