Amid the accelerating transformations of the Fifth Industrial Revolution and the global pursuit of carbon neutrality by 2050, the oil sector faces fundamental transformative challenges that necessitate the adoption of sustainable digital leadership models. This study aims to explore the role of sustainable digital leadership in enhancing predictive occupational safety, focusing on the local context of Najaf Al-Ashraf Governorate in Iraq, which represents a notable research gap.
The study adopted a descriptive-analytical methodology. An electronic questionnaire was designed and distributed to a purposeful sample of (82) participants, including department heads, division managers, and central unit officials in the oil sector in Najaf. The study variables (sustainable digital leadership and predictive occupational safety) were measured using a five-point Likert scale after verifying the tool's validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using (SPSS v26) and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM).
The results revealed a statistically significant impact of sustainable digital leadership on enhancing predictive occupational safety. The study also identified the key technologies supporting this transformation, most notably artificial intelligence, big data analytics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and virtual and augmented reality technologies. Based on these findings, the study proposes the (IDSLM) model as an integrated applied framework combining knowledge management, predictive analytics, and sustainable digital governance. It also offers strategic recommendations for decision-makers to foster a safe work environment capable of addressing the future challenges of digital transformation in the Iraqi oil sector.
